In the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) went head-to-head with the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Mumbai Indians (MI) won the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, April 23.

Good to have wins behind our back – Hardik Pandya
Opting to bowl first in the match, Mumbai Indians bowlers did an exceptional job and reduced SRH to 35/5, before restricting them to 143/8. Trent Boult picked up 4 wickets, Deepak Chahar got two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya got one wicket each in the innings.
Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma continued his good form and slammed a sensational 70 runs off 46 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav blasted a 19-ball 40* to steer MI to win in 15.4 overs.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, the MI skipper expressed delight over his team’s back-to-back wins and added that they knew they would dominate once everyone started firing. He said:
“Good to have wins behind our back. Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way. Rohit, Deepak, Boult, SKY, everyone, always felt that once everyone started clicking, it’s going to be a complete domination, overall a wonderful win.”
Captaincy sometimes is about instincts – Rohit
Hardik Pandya further said that captaincy is sometimes about instincts, but he has pre-made plans as well. He stated:
“Captaincy sometimes is about instincts, I like to see the game and react and not always rely on pre-made plans.”
While talking about bowling Vignesh Puthur in the 10th over, Hardik Pandya said that the attempt was to get a wicket. He also urged his team to get better in every department.
“(On bowling Puthur) At that point, we wanted them to take a chance and give us a wicket. Young guy, hadn’t played a couple of games, was tough for him and I understand. We can get better in all departments, we discussed about being very clinical and very smart. We’ll take it game by game. We’re very satisfied with this win,” Hardik Pandya stated.
How did MI perform in the previous IPL match against SRH?
Mumbai Indians bagged a commanding four-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on April 17, 2025. They first restricted SRH to 162/5 and then chased the target down in 18.1 overs. Will Jacks was MI’s standout performer and earned the Player of the Match award for his all-round display.

Even after a brief trouble late in the innings, Tilak Varma (21*) ensured MI crossed the finish line with 11 balls to spare.
