In the 37th over of Afghanistan’s innings, Liam Livingstone delivered a flighted ball drifting in, and Zadran elegantly nudged it towards square leg to complete his century. The young Afghan batter took off his helmet, raised his bat to acknowledge the applause from his teammates, and made a gesture toward the dressing room, possibly dedicating his milestone to someone special.
This marks Zadran’s second century in an ICC ODI event, his first being an unbeaten 129 against Australia at Wankhede during the 2023 World Cup. His ability to perform on the big stage once again proved vital for Afghanistan.
Record-equalling feat in Champions Trophy 2025
Zadran’s ton was the tenth individual hundred of the tournament, making the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy jointly hold the record for the most centuries in a single edition, alongside the 2002 and 2017 tournaments.
Meanwhile, Pakistan remains the only team yet to register an individual century in the ongoing event. As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on their batters to see if they can break this streak.
