Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh had a decent outing with the ball in the game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The match between the two teams took place at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (25th March).
Arshdeep Singh came up with the match-winning spell in the game against Gujarat Titans. The Punjab Kings pacer first provided his team with the crucial breakthrough of Sai Sudharsan (74) in the middle over. And then came up with the brilliant last over of the innings.
With Gujarat Titans needing 27 runs off the last over, Arshdeep Singh first came up with the brilliant presence of mind to remove Rahul Tewatia. On the first ball of the over, the fast bowler bowled a brilliant yorker to Sherfane Rutherford, who mistimed the shot back to the bowler.
Arshdeep Singh tried to stop the ball in his followthrough, and in the process, he ended up getting a finger on it. The ball went and hit the stumps at the bowler’s end and Rahul Tewatia was outside the crease, resulting in his wicket.
After that, Arshdeep Singh came up with the magnificent ball to remove Sherfane Rutherford, who was looking threatening, and slammed the pacer for a six. The pacer bowled an off-side yorker outside off stump, to which the batter attempted to swing hard.
He ended up getting an inside edge as the ball crashed onto the stumps to send the batter packing.

Arshdeep Singh ended with the figures of 2/36 in the game against Gujarat Titans. Thanks to his heroics, Punjab Kings restricted the opposition to 232 runs to win the game by 11 tuns and start the season on high. Apart from him, Marco Jansen and Glenn Maxwell bagged one wicket each.
Vijaykumar Vyshak also played a key role for the Punjab Kings. The fast bowler came in as an impact player and then executed his plan of bowling wide yorkers brilliantly. Although he failed to take a wicket, he changed the momentum of the game in his team’s favour.

Arshdeep Singh talked about his plan in the game, saying that they wanted to make the batters hit on the off-side. The senior pacer also lauded Vijaykumar Vyshak for executing his plans, saying that the fast bowler puts hard yards in the nets. He also was in awe of the batters for scoring over 240 runs. Speaking to broadcasters after the game, he said:
“The thought was simple and very clear – make them hit to the off-side; it is not easy to hit there; if they hit a good shot, clap, say well played and go again. (on Vyshak) Happy for him, he is putting in the hard yards in the practice, was executing the yorkers really well in practice and the results showed in the game as well.
“If you want to miss, miss on the wider side and not on the stumps. Even if it slips, even if it’s a full-toss, it won’t be easy for them to hit as it’s very far from their reach. Credit goes to all the batters who went in and smashed from ball number one. That’s how it goes in this format nowadays. There is no par score, 240, 250, 260 – score as much as possible and then try and defend it.”
