The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) has been officially suspended for a week due to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that continuing the tournament under the current circumstances was not right.

Dhumal said that the BCCI and IPL officials are closely monitoring the situation, and they will decide on the future of the remainder of the 2025 season after reassessing conditions in the coming days as the war between India and Pakistan is intensifying with each passing day.

We were considering full suspension, and we were discussing it with all the stakeholders: Arun Dhumal

The IPL chairman has further dropped a bombshell, hinting that a full suspension of the tournament is also being considered, depending on how things unfold in the coming days, as Pakistan had already tried to hit India with 300-400 drones at 36 locations, and now they are using civil airliners as a shield.

Arun Dhumal was quoted as saying by CNN-News18, “See, given the situation as of now, we thought it appropriate that it does not make sense to have the tournament going on for a while, and as the situation unfolds in the coming days, we will take a call accordingly.”

The IPL chairman further added, “We were considering (full suspension), and we were discussing it with all the stakeholders, and it was thought appropriate to suspend for a week, assess the situation, and then make a final call.”

The entire country is focused on winning this war: Arun Dhumal

Furthermore, Dhumal has reiterated that the future of the Indian Premier League 2025 will be reviewed later, as the current focus is on standing united with the armed forces and the government. He noted that a final decision will be made after carefully assessing the situation and consulting all key stakeholders.

He signed off by saying, “See, as of now, as you know, the entire country is focused on winning this war, and we want to show our solidarity with our armed forces and with our government. So that is the focus as of now; we are not considering everything else as of now. So, we will review the situation and, accordingly, take a call after discussing it with all the stakeholders.”

DC, PBKS, MI, and RCB adjust plans amid IPL 2025 suspension

With the IPL 2025 being suspended for a week due to rising India-Pakistan tensions, the franchises are now arranging travel logistics. Indian players are already headed home, while overseas players are being flown out with support from the BCCI and team management.

IPL teams are currently spread across different cities. DC and PBKS are heading to Delhi, MI will return to Mumbai from Ahmedabad, GT was in Delhi, and RCB may head directly from Lucknow.

Pakistan hits new low as they target places of worship

As reported by ANI, the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked all state and Union Territory officials to use emergency powers under civil defense rules. This decision was taken to ensure all safety and precautionary steps are carried out effectively in this critical situation.

On the other hand, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has strongly condemned Pakistan for targeting places of worship, calling it a shocking and embarrassing act. He said this move marks a new low, even by Pakistan’s standards, highlighting the disturbing intent behind the attacks on May 8.
