The second edition of the women’s Bengal Pro T20 League was set to begin on May 16 in Birbhum, with the final scheduled for June 4. Notably, the men’s tournament was planned to start the same day as the women’s final. The Cricket Association of Bengal launched the women’s competition last year.

Cricket Association of Bengal Stands in Full Solidarity with the Nation – CAB

The Cricket Association of Bengal expressed its full support for the nation during these challenging times. CAB stated that prioritizing national duty above all is essential in the current situation.

“In these testing times, the Cricket Association of Bengal stands in full solidarity with the nation. We wholeheartedly support the efforts of the Government of India and salute the courage and dedication of our armed forces, whose unwavering service under Operation Sindoor is a source of pride and inspiration for all Indians.”

“Cricket has always united us, but in moments like these, we are reminded that our foremost duty is to the country. The CAB remains deeply committed to the principles of national unity and security, and every step we take will reflect that commitment,” it added.

The first season of the Bengal Pro T20 League ended with the Sobisco Smashers Malda and the Murshidabad Kings sharing the title due to rain disruptions. The league was conceived with the goal of discovering emerging cricket talent from West Bengal.

BCCI Postpones Remainder of 2025 Indian Premier League

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). A revised schedule will be finalized following consultations with relevant authorities and stakeholders.

This decision was made just hours after the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on May 8 was halted due to a floodlight failure, which forced an immediate evacuation after just 10.1 overs were played.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal initially stated the tournament would continue, but the board ultimately decided to suspend the league and is now expected to explore a new window later this year to complete the remaining fixtures.
