Indian legend Harbhajan Singh could be one of BCCI’s office bearers as the Punjab Association nominated him as the representative amid the cheers for new appointments across several positions in the BCCI in the Annual General Meeting, as per a report in the Indian Express.
The veteran spinner has played in 103 Tests for India and has also played in 236 ODI games. He picked 417 Test wickets and 269 wickets in the 50-over format and was part of the winning squads of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC World Cup.
Agendas of the BCCI annual general meeting
The BCCI has been scheduled to go for a fresh election for the Apex Council and the IPL governing council members as well. One of the main agendas for the AGM would be the induction of the following office bearers of BCCI: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer.

Election and induction of one representative of the general body in the Apex Council of the BCCI, and the two representatives of the General body in the governing council of the IPL, are also on the radar for the board.

The former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has been appointed by the Punjab Cricket Association for the upcoming BCCI annual general meeting, where a total of five key bearers are to be elected.
The AGM is to be held on the 28th of September, as former skipper Sourav Ganguly, who had already assumed the role from 2019, has been again nominated as the representative for the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Harbhajan Singh, a former member of the Rajya Sabha, was also affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party as an advisor to the Punjab Cricket Association earlier and will be their representative for his motherland’s state association.
Members appointed by different State Associations for AGM
As per the recent circular sent to all state associations, the deadline for members to file the application to nominate their representatives is the 12th of September. The candidates can also withdraw their names by the 23rd of September.
The election is scheduled to be held on the 28th of September, while the window for the nomination has been picked between the 20th and the 21st of November. The elections have not been witnessed for over the last decade, while candidates have been chosen through mutual discussions.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association has decided to nominate Raghuram Bhatt as their representative, while the Mumbai Cricket Association has nominated Sanjay Naik. Himachal Pradesh has nominated former IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, while the interim BCCI President and former vice-president Rajeev Shukla will represent the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association.
Jaydev Shah has been nominated by the Saurashtra Cricket Association, and Pranav Amin will represent Baroda. Tamil Nadu has nominated its secretary, RI Palani.
