In a playful gesture, KKR’s Rinku Singh visited the MI dressing room to ask for Rohit Sharma‘s bat, a move that was met with good-natured teasing from the MI players.
MI vs KKR: A one-sided affair
The match between MI and KKR was a dominating performance by Mumbai Indians, who secured their first win of the IPL 2025 season. MI bowled out KKR for a mere 116 runs in 16.2 overs, thanks largely to the impressive debut of Ashwani Kumar, who picked up four wickets for 24 runs. The chase was equally straightforward, with Ryan Rickelton leading the charge with an unbeaten 62 off 41 balls, helping MI reach the target in just 12.5 overs.
Rinku Singh’s quest for Rohit Sharma’s bat
In a video shared by MI’s social media team, Rinku was seen entering the MI dressing room, asking Rohit for one of his bats. This request was met with playful teasing from MI players, including Tilak Varma, who pointed out that Rinku already has bats with his name on them. Hardik Pandya also chimed in, playfully questioning Rinku’s motives. Interestingly, it was Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku’s KKR teammate, who eventually received a bat from Rohit, adding to the humor of the situation.
Rinku’s decision to borrow Rohit’s bat is reminiscent of his past interactions with Virat Kohli. Previously, Rinku had borrowed bats from Kohli, only to break them, leading to some good-natured banter between the two players. This time, Rinku’s quest for Rohit’s bat seems to be an attempt to break his current lean patch.

Rinku’s sharp dip in form
Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions, have struggled in IPL 2025, with only one win from three matches. A significant concern for them is the form of Rinku, who has been unable to replicate his usual explosive batting. In the three games played so far, Rinku has managed only 29 runs, with an average of 14.50 and a strike rate of 120.83. His performance in IPL 2024 was also underwhelming, scoring 168 runs in 11 innings at an average of 18.66.
Rinku’s dip in form is a major worry for KKR, as they rely heavily on him to finish games strongly. His inability to score runs has put additional pressure on other batters, making it difficult for the team to post competitive totals. If KKR are to advance further in the tournament, Rinku needs to regain his form and start contributing significantly to the team’s batting efforts.
