India ODI captain Rohit Sharma has set the cricketing world abuzz with his return to training ahead of the crucial three-match ODI series against Australia in October. The 38-year-old opener’s comeback video on Instagram has garnered massive attention with his wife Ritika Sajdeh posting a particularly emotional reaction that has captured fans’ hearts.

Rohit shared a practice session video on social media with the caption “I am here again it feels really good” showcasing his trademark strokes and fitness levels. Among the flood of comments from excited fans Ritika’s response stood out with genuine emotion. She wrote “Goosebumps and” followed by three teary-eyed emojis expressing the overwhelming feelings surrounding her husband’s return to international cricket.

The emotional comment from Ritika reflects the personal journey the couple has endured through Rohit’s recent career transitions. Having witnessed his retirement from Test cricket in May 2025 and the speculation surrounding his ODI future she has been his strongest supporter through the highs and lows of his illustrious career.

Rohit training with Abhishek Nayar for Australia challenge

Rohit has been preparing intensively for his comeback under the guidance of former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar at a Mumbai facility. The veteran opener appeared in excellent touch during his net sessions looking fitter and more determined than before as he gears up for what could be a defining tour.

Having cleared his fitness test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru Rohit has addressed any concerns about his physical readiness. Despite a recent hospital visit in Mumbai that sparked fan worries the India captain has demonstrated his commitment to returning to peak form for the challenging Australian conditions.

The upcoming ODI series against Australia beginning October 19 at Optus Stadium in Perth marks Rohit’s return after an eight-month break from international cricket. His outstanding record in Australia with 1,328 runs in 30 matches at an average of 53.12 including five centuries provides confidence for this crucial tour. With retirement speculation swirling around both Rohit and Virat Kohli this series carries immense significance as they focus solely on the ODI format following their exits from Tests and T20Is.
