The much-awaited India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash in Dubai ended in a massive controversy on Sunday, September 14. India registered a dominant seven-wicket victory, but all eyes shifted to their behavior towards the Pakistan cricket team from the beginning to the end.
The controversy started at the toss, where Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha. Even after the match, the Indian captain and players again embarrassed the Pakistan cricket team by skipping the customary post-match handshake. Now, Tanvir Ahmed has reacted to the matter.

Tanvir Ahmed also noted that the Dubai International Cricket Stadium didn’t even feel full, which reflected the tension around the match, but the real disappointment came from the Indian players’ cold attitude toward the Pakistani players.
Tanvir Ahmed said on PTVSports: “There were a couple of things I noticed in this match, and I’m sure many of you must have seen them too. The first was that the ground wasn’t packed. The stadium didn’t look full at all. The second thing was at the toss; there was no handshake.
When Salman was walking back after the discussion, he looked towards Suryakumar Yadav, maybe to shake hands, but Suryakumar didn’t even look in his direction. From what I saw, he just walked away to the side. Of course, I could be wrong, but that’s how it seemed.”
Tanvir Ahmed claims India’s conduct has ruined Cricket
Tanvir Ahmed highlighted how the handshake tradition, a basic symbol of respect and sportsmanship, was completely ignored by the Indian team. The former Pakistani cricketer said that they have ruined the game with their behavior.

He signed off by saying, “The larger point is, what kind of attitude is this? What kind of people behave like this? What kind of their government is? They have taken cricket to such a low level that even the players don’t exchange basic respect or greetings anymore. If respect disappears, the spirit of the game disappears as well. They have ruined the cricket.”
Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a formal protest with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), calling India’s behaviour “unsporting” and a clear violation of cricket’s spirit. The refusal to follow the traditional post-match handshake has added fuel to the already tense atmosphere between the two nations. The BCCI is yet to react to the handshake controversy.
