The BCCI has revealed the squad for India A in the upcoming one-day series against Australia A, as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer find no spot in the squads. This might also indicate a new high for batter Shreyas Iyer, while the veterans are left stranded.
The one-day matches in the series have been scheduled to be played from the 30th of September to the 5th of October. The matches will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, and Rajat Patidar, alongside Tilak Varma, has been named to lead the young Indian team.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli snubbed as India A have announced the One-Day squad
The India A vs Australia A series was a highly anticipated contest, especially for Indian cricket fans. This is because the series was supposed to mark the return of legendary Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the field. The two were last seen in action in the IPL.

The buzz around the retirement of two veterans has been taking the internet by storm; however, their return to the India A series has given the Indian Cricket fans some relief. The revealed squads have found the two greats snubbed, which further throws their availability for the Australia white-ball series into doubt.
Several speculations have hit the social media platforms claiming that the India tour of Australia white-ball series might be Rohit Sharma’s last in the Blue jersey.
Shreyas Iyer to make his much-awaited comeback in Test cricket
However, on the other hand, Shreyas Iyer’s snub from the One-Day team for the series against Australia A might prove to be a blessing in disguise. The batter has been named the skipper for the multi-day games, but has not found a spot in the One-dayers.
The one-day matches in the series clash with India’s schedule of red-ball matches against the West Indies. The West Indies tour is set to begin on the 2nd of October; hence, this seems an indication that Shreyas Iyer might be fortunate to make his much-awaited return to International Test cricket.
Shreyas Iyer last played in a Test series against England back in 2024 and has amassed 811 runs across 14 matched and also has a Test hundred to his name. However, since the home England series he has repeatedly failed to find a spot in the Indian test side.
However, the India vs England series noted the absence of a proper middle order batter for India, as a result of which Iyer might be roped in now.
