Union Minister and JDU chief Lallan Singh on Thursday categorically ruled out his party’s divorce with the NDA, downplaying Lalu Prasad Yadav’s recent call to Nitish Kumar to return to the Mahagathbandhan fold. Of the NDA, Singh commented: “We are with the NDA and with full firmness.” I cannot respond to what people say – there is freedom of speech and everyone is free to express him/herself.
It is still uncertain whether Nitish Kumar will switched side since Lalu had said on Wednesday, “Doors are open for Nitish Kumar to join us and work together.” Nitish Kumar however dismissed these comments and when the reporters confronted him with the comments, all he had to say was what do you mean…let it go.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also tried to make some damage control by saying that Lalu’s intention was to calm down reporters. Nevertheless, he seized the occasion to forecast the NDA’s fall in Bihar the following year, saying: “The new year will mark new yield (nai fasal) and new government.”
Tejashwi said that Nitish Kumar had exceeded his term in office after being in power for twenty years and referred to him as a soil on which people get weary after tilling it for twenty years. “ Nitish ji and the NDA should go now,” he underlined.
On the other hand, recent visit of Governor-designate Arif Mohammad Khan to Rabri Devi’s residence created political buzz in wake of Bihar assembly polls. Speaking to the media, Khan remained mum on the visit which occurred on Rabri Devi’s birthday and New Year.
Tejashwi appealed to the media not to entertain any rumors concerning political instability informing the public that, “It is too cold. Essentially, ‘warm up’ but ‘don’t guess’. Given that Bihar goes to polls within the next one year political realignments and expectations continue to prevail in the state.
