Yhe new year also started with a political debate where AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal alleged BJP of voter obliteration and voting for purchase in Delhi through a letter to RSS’ Mohan Bhagwat. As assembly elections are due for February, Kejriwal asked whether the RSS condoned such alleged actions. He pointed to the concerns such as bizarre scenes where Dalit and Purvanchali votes were axed and the BJP distributed money to solicit votes.
Counter aggressively, BJP people’s spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi described the letter as an act done for TV camera only minister, kejriwal took tips from rss instead of learning from its services and doing political dramas. For instance, he highlighted the achievements of Seva Bharati which is an RSS sponsored organisation working for the uplift of Dalits living in slums.
BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva condemned Kejriwal ” misleading political tactics” and demanded the winter to turn a new page by making positive changes from this year’s first day. He said AAP leader has failed on promises, propagating Liquor business and supporting anti national elements. Sachdeva also urged Kejriwal to tender an apology for failing to deliver on poll promises, such as cleaning the Yamuna; and stop tantalizing Delhi voters with such promises.
The BJP also accused Kejriwal of supporting anti Indian elements such as Rohingyas and Bangladeshis refugees being used as vote bank.
This conflict occurs when the Indian RSS has internal discussions regarding the issues of temple-mosque in India . Recently RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat has come down heavily against such issues and called for communal harmony. But his observations were objected to by Swami Rambhadracharya, puja-samanta of PM Modi, who maintained that Bhagwat had not expressed the Hindu spirit.
As the Delhi assembly elections approach, AAP and BJP continue to flex muscles, and muddy each other’s image as they prepare for a highly charged electoral contest.
