The particular rituals and procedures of the ‘Amrit Snan’ event were also executed with great precision to least require the Mahakumbh administration to allocate particular hours of the day to certain *akharas* (monastic orders of Hinduism). The ritual began early in the morning with the Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara departing their camps at 5:15 am. They reached the designated ghat by 6:Adherents started arriving from as early as 12:15am and took only 40 minutes conела ing their ‘bath’ before heading back to their respective camps by 7: 55am.

Subsequently, Shri Taponidhi Panchayati Shri Niranjani Akhara and Shri Panchayati Akhara Anand marched past. In the later half of the day other Sanyasi Akharas like Shri Panchdashnam Juna Akhara did their respective rituals and around evening time all the Bairagi Akharas performed. The sequence concluded with the Udasin Akharas, and the final *Amrit Snan* was performed by Shri Panchayati Nirmal Akhara at 5:20 pm.

Auspicious Beginnings and Historical Significance

The first ‘Amrit Snan’ is significant in its occurrence as it was one day after major bathing puja on ‘Paush Purnima’ in the Sangam area. Even though the Mahakumbh is held every 12 years, the religious gurus and seers have underlined the point that the planetary conjunctions for the current year’s event occur once in 144 years thereby making current Mahakumbh very special.

The Mahakumbh 2025 started its first major event of the ‘Amrit Snan’ from January 14 that falls on Makar Sankranti. This holy bath at the Sangam of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati river is a big attraction of the one-month long Ardh Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, which will end on February 26, on the Maha Shivratri.

Faithfuls from all over the country and other parts of the world have flocked in to take part in this sacred rite. The state government of Uttar Pradesh has anticipated that about 35 crore pilgrims will attend Mahakumbh this year only to signify the great importance of this cultural and spiritual fair.

Detailed Schedule for the Holy Dip

The Mahakumbh administration carefully coordinated the timing of the ‘Amrit Snan,’ to different akharas (monastic orders of Hinduism). The ritual began early in the morning with the Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara departing their camps at 5:15 am. They reached the designated ghat by 6:While 15 am, they managed to take their holy bath in the next 40 minutes and returned back to their respective camps by 7;55 am.

The sequence concluded with the Udasin Akharas, and the final Amrit Snan was performed by Shri Panchayati Nirmal Akhara at 5:20 pm.

Auspicious Beginnings and Historical Significance

The Kumbh Mela has been termed as a cultural and religious festival by the Uttar Pradesh government under its Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Addressing the occasion CM Adityanath said, ‘The Mahakumbh is not merely a religious congregation, but a towering symbol of India’s glorious civilization where millions of people come together in the name of divine puja and bhakti’.

Massive Preparations and Expectations

Organizing such a function calls for a lot of input and preparation to ensure that it turns out to be a success. The state administration is expecting 35 crore devotees this time and they did not leave any stone unturned to facilitate proper functioning as well as security measures. Measures that involve transportation, accommodation, sanitation and security have been made all over Prayagraj.

Due to congestion problems, the administration estimates that it has deployed thousands of persons including police, health professionals, and volunteers. To meet the social amenities of visitors, what they called temporary hospitals, water purging plants, and food processing places have been established.

Furthermore, much has been undertaken to explain its religious and environmental significance. Publicity programmes on the preservation of the river along with environment protection messages have been conducted, appealing to devotees to bathe with care.

Impact on Culture and World

The Mahakumbh festival, which is described as the largest religious gathering on the planet, is a great example of the spiritual nature of India and the opportunity that unites people. Besides attracting Indian devotees, spiritual tourists from other parts of the world are also captivated with an opportunity to watch the rituals and traditions of India.

In addition to the religious experience, cultural performances, folk dances, and songs, and exhibitions of Indian art and craft exclusively are performed. To numerous of them the Amrit Snan is thought to be a rite that washes one’s sins and bestows the method to salvation.
